Vocational Education Training (Internal)

“Students at Hunter Christian School are offered personalised guidance, mentorship, and career planning. We assist students by transforming their academic excellence into successful professional opportunities. Our students have access to platforms such as JobJump and a dedicated Careers area within Canvas where they receive frequent updates. In addition, from Stage 5, our students begin the process of thinking about their career, and work on the transferable skills required.”

Your Path to Success

Vocational Education and Training (VET) offers a great way to explore diverse careers while earning nationally recognized qualifications. By combining VET with the Higher School Certificate (HSC), you can gain dual qualifications in your chosen field.

In 2026, we are pleased to offer the following courses at Hunter Christian School:

  • Certificate II in Construction Pathways (Board Developed Course)
  • Certificate III in Business (Board Developed Course)
  • Certificate III in Fitness (Board Endorsed Course)
  • Certificate III in Christian Leadership (Board Endorsed Course)

More information on these courses can be found at: VET Booklet

Benefits of VET

  • Dual Qualifications: Earn both an HSC and a VET qualification.
  • ATAR Boost: Some VET courses can contribute to your ATAR.
  • Career Advantage: Gain a significant edge as you transition to further studies or the workforce.

We are governed by the AIS as our RTO for online site delivery of VET for the majority of our subjects: VET Information – Association of Independent Schools

Christian Leadership is delivered through Hillsong College: https://hillsong.com/college/

How to Apply

Students wishing to complete one of these VET courses as part of their Higher School Certificate program are required to complete the attached Agreement in addition to the Application Form. Enrolling in a VET Course requires a significant commitment from both parents/guardians and the student. The attached Agreement sets out the school’s requirements for students undertaking VET courses.

Start your journey!

Careers at Hunter Christian School are shaped through a personalised, future-focused approach that supports every secondary student. Each student from Years 9–12 is provided with an individual career pathway plan, alongside targeted support in résumé writing and interview skills to prepare them for life beyond school.

Every student develops a clear, individual pathway plan and gains the confidence that comes from knowing they are supported and prepared. Our goal is that when students leave Year 12, they do so with clarity, direction, and the next steps firmly in place — ready for life beyond the school gates.
